New Spectrum Product

In 2020,  Covid-19 changed the way many people designed. When asked to create concept of decorative wipe containers that could easily fit multiple sizes of disinfectant wipes Bridget was up for the challenge to quickly get this product to market. She brought this patented item from sketch to shelf and worked with both engineering and manufacturing to create this item.  Click on the image to see more.

First Product to Market

After her internship with Kichler, Bridget's first product has come to market. The art deco inspired vanity light features a ribbed glass that was designed to mimic the ribbing of Egyptian columns bringing together the Egyptian influence in art deco with the crisp geometric form. Senior Thesis and BFA

As the last project in her career at the Cleveland Institute of Art Bridget designed a cat trap for practicing trap neutering and returning (TNR) with feral cats. The Cove trap allows a better experience for all three of users, the vet, cat, and the trapper. Cove has a built in squeeze cage mechanism for administrating the anesthetics to the cat before the procedure and a removable feeding tray for safe caring for the cat and set up of the trap. International Housewares Association Submission

Bridget create a cutting board, Lend, that addresses the struggles that people with paralysis or upper-limb amputations have with preparing food in the kitchen. Essentially, the products fills a gap in the market if aesthetically pleasing pieces in the home medical supply market. This resulted in a trend forward one handed cutting board that creates a pleasant and struggle free experience in the kitchen for her targeted users. Summer 2019 Internship Experience

Through the summer of 2019, Bridget worked for Kichler Lighting in Independence, Ohio. Bridget designed 40+ light fixtures, including chandeliers and bathroom lighting. Currently, 33 of those are in the process to get entered into the production line of 2022. To design fixtures, Bridget utilized Solidworks, sketching, and Photoshop. The design team consisted of 4 designers and 2 design interns.

Over the course of the internship Bridget also got to develop knowledge of manufacturing by assembling prototypes and research. While lighting design was the focus of the internship Bridget also got to work on designing and learning about designing fans that Kichler also produces.

The experience allowed Bridget to grow her use of form language and to create more sculptural products while working around manufacturing and engineering standards of the company. Including tubing sizes and knowing about the internals of the light fixtures.

Overall, Bridget enjoyed and learned as much as she could at her time at Kichler and grew to have an interest in designing lighting in her future.

Collaborative Energizer Rebrand Project

Bridget worked on a team of 5 industrial designers and 4 graphic designers to create a line of outdoor patio furniture for a rebranded version of the Energizer battery company. The project Bridget worked on revolved around an umbrella with solar panels that is mounted to a bluetooth speaker that uses solar energy to power it and the speaker has a set of 4 battery packs and an LED light guide panel that work. When away from the umbrella the battery packs work as portable chargers. Click on the pictures for more details and the full presentation!

Breadbox Toaster Project

The project revolves around sustainability, which designers currently need to think about more than ever. Bridget created the toaster to start a conversation about consumer electronic waste. The Breadbox Toaster uses a front-loading method to create an easy disassembly for both cleaning and deconstruction and also takes away the need for a spring-loaded tray. Because of the toaster construction, the user can disassemble the electronics, send them to an e-waste recycling center and put the rest of the product into curbside recycling. Little Tikes Play Therapy Project

During spring semester in 2019, Bridget partook in a sponsored project with Little Tikes. Bridget designed play therapy blocks for young children working with therapists. The blocks provide a feeling of protection for the children and allow for storytelling with the therapist. Click on the pictures for more details and the full presentation!
