Through the summer of 2019, Bridget worked for Kichler Lighting in Independence, Ohio. Bridget designed 40+ light fixtures, including chandeliers and bathroom lighting. Currently, 33 of those are in the process to get entered into the production line of 2022. To design fixtures, Bridget utilized Solidworks, sketching, and Photoshop. The design team consisted of 4 designers and 2 design interns.
Over the course of the internship Bridget also got to develop knowledge of manufacturing by assembling prototypes and research. While lighting design was the focus of the internship Bridget also got to work on designing and learning about designing fans that Kichler also produces. The experience allowed Bridget to grow her use of form language and to create more sculptural products while working around manufacturing and engineering standards of the company. Including tubing sizes and knowing about the internals of the light fixtures. Overall, Bridget enjoyed and learned as much as she could at her time at Kichler and grew to have an interest in designing lighting in her future.
