Bridget's concentration revolves around erasing mental health stigma through a series of posters to educate both those who have mental illness and the general public.
The work in Bridget's concentration demonstrates educating people on mental health by focusing on ten specific illnesses. To create a dark tone Bridget utilized darker values then with subtle tones Bridget evoked a dramatic mood (3,10). To develop a sense of hierarchy Bridget practiced the principle of movement.Shapes create movement down the page, allowing the audience to read the poster in a logical order and emphasize the impact. Using hierarchy with typography was another aspect on which Bridget focused. Text size and contrast create the hierarchy in her pieces. Title fonts were built by hand to add emphasis to those areas and evoke a particular mood To generate a sense of entrapment within my pieces Bridget focused on the element of space. Negative space around the subject creates a sense of isolation, showing how people with mental illness feel alone. Bridget used various textures to represent illnesses by creating irregular rhythms and a despairing mood. Overall, Bridget focused on accenting the fact that those who have mental illness are people rather than statistics.
